Sustainability for the built environment, good value for money investment.
There is an increased regional interest in certifying buildings and urban developments under Sustainability and Green Certification systems. This is part of the added value that is provided through certification as a response to the global need for action related to limiting climate change and to the need for improvement of the actual socio-environmental living conditions.
Delivering a sustainable project can have a broader positive impact. Application of sustainability does not only provide something that can be labeled as “green”, but it also provides a final product, of better quality and a higher value than the norm. Investment in sustainability can have a very short payback period, by viewing investment in terms of its whole socio-economic life cycle.
